Getting to your H Drive from Home

 

Your district drives include your H: and S: drives as well as any other drives that are automatically on your district computer.  These instructions describe how you can connect to them at home.  Note:  If you do not have the Microsoft Office Suite on your home computer and need it to work on documents, you can download it free on your home computer.  See the following article:

Getting to your H: drive from home

  1. Go to farmington.k12.mn.us. Look for the plus sign on top of the website.  Click on the plus sign and choose “Staff Resources”.          
  2. Find the Technology heading and select “Getting to your H Drive from Home”
  3. This brings you to the log on page to get to your files. You can do three things from this page.                                                                     
    1. Log on to the portal to get to your files. (C)
    2. Reset your password. (A)
    3. Check to see if your home computer meets the requirements to use the portal. (B)
  4. Once you have entered your password you will see the following screen. Click on the image of the file (A).  You can also log out by clicking the image B.
  5. You will then come to the following screen:
    1. The left side under Location Panel shows all your network drives.
    2. The shortcuts across the top allow you to:
      1. Close the Location Panel
      2. Navigate up to the previous level
      3. Upload files from your home computer
      4. More options allows you to look at recent files, search and open multiple files.
      5. Chose in what order your folders and files are sorted
      6. The format that your files are listed.
    3. The bottom of this and following screens will list the number of pages at that level. Click the left or right arrows to see more files.
    4. The description screen will show up each time unless you click the box next to “Don’t show again”
  1. Once you click on one of the drives you will see the folders and files in that drive. Navigate folders until you find the file you want.
  2. Click on the file you want to view or edit. You will see the following popup box.  Choose if you want to open or download on your home computer.
  3. Once you have edited your file make sure you upload your finished product back to your district drive.
