Many have asked for the ability to set a passcode on your Mac. Great question! You see the option in the settings, but it's grayed out. (This is a bug in our software system) but we have a solution ready. We will be sending out a policy that will require a passcode after computer sleeps or screen saver runs. You will enter your network password to get back in.
The timeout before entering a passcode is based on your screen saver setting. The default is 20 minutes, so if you are happy with that, you don't need to do anything. If you are not, please do the following:
- Open System Preferences
- Click on 'Desktop & Screen Saver', then the Screen Saver tab
- go to the bottom left where is stays "start after 20 min" and change to your liking.
You can also set Hot Corners to have the screen saver start when you click them (instant lock). I set my upper right to 'Start Screen Saver'. then click OK.
