Macbook Outlook - Distribution List- Contact group is grayed out

This is to document what to do when the Contact Group is grayed out in Outlook on the Macbook.
- Outlook menu > Preferences > General and deselect the option "Hide On My Computer folders

Distribution lists created by a user on Exchange are not supported on the Macbook or iPad.
If a smtp group address exists for a list (like group@farmington.k12.mm.us) then this list WILL work as long as it is permitted by Exchange.
A list created by a user will not work because it has no SMTP equivalent. (Parent lists, committees, etc...)

On the Macbook the user can create a new Contact group, however it is separate from one created on Exchange.

If a user is inquiring about Parent lists, you may want to suggest they use Infinite Campus as an alternative.
